Jihad, according to Islamic law, must be waged until the Day of Judgment. Islam allows no permanent peaceful coexistence with infidels. Jihad is an essential ingredient of Islamic philosophy, and all who truly love the Koranic faith are devoted to jihad. It’s the hook on which hang all rationales for the use of political power and force to advance the Islamic cause.

Though the concept of mercy appears in the Koran, there is no room for mercy toward those who oppose the advance of Islam. The Koran states, “But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful” (Koran 9:5). And, “O Prophet! strive against the disbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell, an evil refuge indeed” (Koran 9:73).
